Caitlin Connolly :Just finished this drama and I agree…one of the best dramas I have watched this year and one of the best CDRAMAs I have ever seen!
Mocky Mock :When I was watching the drama, I was consistently anxious to know what is going to happen next. So, each time when I reached the each of per episode, I was like, tell me what happened next please please please.
Jeana Picard :I watched this based of your review, what a great series, artistic and at the same time enlightening as it shows Chinese daily life. More importantly it reveals compassion of most regular people as well as a good man de-evolving into darkness. This could happen anywhere because it reveals the good as well as darkness of human nature .acting was so good, I don’t know how they got the kids to act so well
Jayce Tse :The novel is much darker and thrilling
minzzles liu :I really want to read a translated version of the novel
Wong Keng Mun :I notice some characters speaks Cantonese in this drama which is so rare for a c- drama was it due to the premise is at Guangzhou?
Diana Gabriela Ciutean :Thnank you so much for your review and recommandation. I was looking desperately for some Chinese dramas that are diffrent from the mainstream ones. I’m not saying mainstream dramas are bad, but in my opinion most of their plots are kinda the same and become repetitive at some point.
Ale Freinar :it sounds so good and I know that your recommendations are good so it is a pity…I´ve founded but without eng subtitles v.v I hope someone does the subbing soon v.v
Eugene and Alice Koutsenko :I really want to watch this now! I looked on the Iqiyi website but can’t quite read all the chinese! Can international users watch it? I’m in Australia. Do I need to sign up to Iqiyi? Thank you.
Multilovinglove :are there english subs someone link it
TDLover1140 :I love the three main kid actors so much, and I appreciate how much work the production team went into finding the perfect child actors to play the roles. Seeing the documentary/bts video about finding the perfect casting for the three “bad kids”, I really agree with what Qin Hao said, that if they couldn’t find the right child actors, the whole drama would not work out. Rong Zishan was originally thought to be cast as Yan Liang, but after trying out some lines, it was apparent that he was perfect for Zhu Chaoyang. Wang Shengdi is so emotive with her eyes and her acting is great to portray the pitiful but clever Pu Pu. Despite being the “flattest” character-wise compared to the other two “bad kids”, Yan Liang was the hardest to cast because they wanted a kid with that natural 野性 and 痞 feeling to him, someone with sort of “street” experience. Shi Pengyuan was originally not considered for it, but after given a second chance and allowed to screen test, he was perfect. The child actors themselves, to some varying degrees, are quite similar to their roles, especially Shi Pengyuan. His parents let him go alone all the way to Zhanjiang for filming, and he really has the introvertedness, independence, and perseverance that Yan Liang has.
Louis Williams Suga Adams Jr. III :The Bad Kids opening theme song reminds me so much of AHS (America Horror Stories). giving that unsettling feeling
kierbaudy :Thank you for recommending the drama, it’s so riveting and interesting. I’m binge watching it and up to episode 9. I wish it was longer.
dwasten90 :Lol I haven’t watched chinese dramas in a long time but maybe I’ll give this one a try…
Joan Lin :Omg I just finished watching it! Yes we want that second video explaining the possible outcomes and novel comparison!!!
Shae :Again, I like the chinese title better as it sounds ominous & mysterious – “The Hidden Corner”
Hydrang3a :See what I like about your reviews is that they encompass very important context (social or cultural) that I as an international viewer who is not Chinese, would just miss out on altogether if not for watching your videos. It makes me appreciate what I watch more and it actually influences how I watch things. You are a total influencer XD For example, supporting platforms for dramas that matter in order to make a change to the things they produce. Or how a production is paid per episode (no wonder why so many c-dramas are soo long) or how iQiyi does ‘brand name’ productions. Guhh I absorb these information like a sponge you see. Oh and how terrible that one episode is filmed between 1 and half day to 3 days.. Here I thought k-dramas (16 eps) being filmed for 6 mos was too much for the actors and staffs.
Gaby Euan :What’s the Chinese name of the book?
kierbaudy :I’m being lazy, is there a translated novel into English?
Janice Brabec :The Iqiyi app seems to be functional only for Apple products such as iPhone, iPad and Mac. I guess those of us who are using a Windows 10 PC cannot download and utilize this app unfortunately. Can anyone please advise me on this? Thank you very much in advance!🙏🙏
ELP1017 :I’m 4 episodes in so far and it is SO riveting! The perfect summer suspense drama! However, the post credits scenes you mention do not seem to exist in the iQiyi international app. After the credits stop rolling there are no additional scenes, the app just moves to the next episode 🤷🏻♀️ Edit: okay it looks like iQiyi international version moved the post credits scenes and made them pre-credit scenes for the following episode.
Egyptian Chabine :Oh wow i will définitly watch it !
DesOkun :You have made me want to watch this drama and I would really like you to compare the novel to the drama like you suggested. Thank you.
Sarah Wo :I can’t wait to watch this! When are the english subtitles coming out?
MsMilkT :Thank you for another great recommendation! I’m just done with the first ep and it’s giving some strong Strangers From Hell (kdrama) vibes for some reason.
Shiryuu sama :Better than Winter Begonia? I’m gonna watch it then 🤭 Edit after 1st episode: Maybe it’s not my type of drama. Not fond of this drama, I think it’s been overhype. Again, it’s my opinion only.
Steve Liu :I just finished it, it was fine… I had trouble keeping interest. I feel that if you are the type who likes to actively think about what is happening in a drama, you’ll love this. But if you prefer the director/script to be less subtle, then this might be a little meh. This is why I think the critics all love this series, I watched a few of them after I finished and found I noticed most of the ‘hidden details’, most of the ones I missed require knowledge of the book that this was adapted from. I think many reviewers were also impress by the dark undertones of the story, but I guess since I did not grow up in China, I didn’t feel that this was even that dark. So, that was also, meh. Finally, reviewers were impressed by hidden details that turned how they view the characters. but I felt that it was pretty linear, my perception of the characters didn’t change from those ‘reveals’ so it felt quite flat. Maybe they were watching a different series from me or I have inherently no more trust in children being ‘perfect creatures’ than adults. So, when the ‘reveals’ came, I was, ‘ok, so that explains that’ as opposed ‘WOW! That was what happened!?’ SPOILER: Some reviewers indicated that Yan Liang and PuPu both died at the sinister master plan of ChaoYang. I don’t know about the book, but in the series, Yan Liang is clearly alive, but I agree Pupu died, so i don’t know how that was concluded. Though I agree that ChaoYang may be more involved in his sister’s death than what was shown, it really doesn’t change how I view ChaoYang in general. So, I don’t feel that there was any special reveal that would make me reexamine my view of the characters
Sambo Chhoeung :I think the only thing that confuses me in this drama is why the little girl always had a new change of clothes everyday. I’m sure she’s not able to fit that many outfits in her little backpack
dorapoch :So excited to watch this now. You always recommend the best!
Hellara Night :About the children’s acting, it’s also awesome that they are surrounded by wildly talented veteran actors that teach them even during filming. It’s so cool seeing them teach the kids in the bts clips
Helen Ng :I’m so down for video that go into more detail into this drama! 0.0
Michelle Kitty :where can i find eng sub for the bad kids?
Christabelle M :I just finished the drama. Please do another video to explain the deeper details. I wanna know everything 🙏🙏 I recommend this drama for everyone, even I who doesn’t like any crime dramas couldn’t stop watching. Like wow. No repetitive silly tropes we see in other dramas, just pure acting, no where in the drama did I feel like I was watching something, I actually felt like I’m living there with the characters. It pulls you in. Really deserves the gold mines.
热气球上的火锅 :This is also my top 1 series for 2020. I’m sure you will do at least two other videos on this~ 😏 I’m reading the novel right now. Love all the little hints and clues that were included in the series, even some in the trailer. I hope they get English subtitles for this series soon so I can share with my English speaking friends.
Andrea Malgraff :I watched the 1st episode a few days ago and it is really stunning! I’m so happy to see you put out a video for it, and I’d definitely like to see a follow up. I’m planning to rope in some company to watch this one, or wait till there are more episodes out to binge it. Thanks for the tip about watching till the very end of the episode, I’ll have to go look for ep¹ extra content
Dee B. :I hope iqiyi and other platforms make a few more showcase pieces …at least more than one so there’s something new to see
William Qiu :I have already watched 8 episodes now I don’t know why but I feel suffocated, fearing that something will happen to the kids These kids should win some awards for sure
Leslie Chen :
Lynn Liu :
Vincent Zhang :
Aurora SSS :
Bowen Chen :
