Make them renounce their US citizenship.
Hard to see how this mercenary tactic satisfies national pride. As long as most citizens don’t know…. like many things about the Olympics.
It’s a shame the public didn’t accept Zhu Yi, she’s a proud Chinese.
I hope ZHU YI will have peak performance in the next sport event.

Reward your athletes and stop taxing them, they’ll represent the USA,
Plus we never hear complaints when foreigners athletes choose to represent the USA
It's just sad because they will be treated completely differently from the Chinese born athletes who have way more pressure on them. They can't just live in California.
I personally think Eileen might have got the Chinese government to comply to her requirements in exchange for her representing China since she is one of the best freeskiers in America.
Well Eileen switched when was 15, and because one of the reason she love China more is that she was raised only by her mom and grandma, his dad where never existed in her life, so she have a good reason to want to support China instead of USA.

In US you are forgotten after the game. In China, you are famous.
During the last decades, there have been thousands of Chinese people who migrated to the US to make contributions to many areas of society, they have been seen as the bridges of cultural communication and models for American's open mind, diversity. But today, two girls also chose to be the bridges in another way became a special target in American media. pity!
Weird how GU gets to keep her American citizenship but ZHU YI had to give it up.
Eileen Gu I think it was about money endorsements in China will make her millions. I do not believe she would move from the US to China it all about getting paid.
if she wants to represent her mother's country so be it. Its blown out of proportion, I doubt people would be outrage if she didnt get a gold
I thought they did it just because she’s a superstar and will give them extra medals would be reason for them enough
Maybe if the US would stop using the hyphenated forms such as Chinese-American instead of just American when referring to American citizens of Asian descent, these two athletes might have represented the US. I think white Americans regard Eileen Gu as American while they regard Zhu Yi as Chinese-American because Gu looks white and Zhu does not. This is the "perpetual foreigner" idea.
It is hard to imagine that the United States would ask such a question! Isn't America the largest immigrant country in the world?
Nothing like dissing the country that gave you opportunities. These two should stay in China for their university education, too.
It's all about money. There are way more advertising money for athletes in China than in America.
Hubris comes to mind for these athletes.
Although Gu said the reason, the media still chose to ignore her expression and let some people who didn't know her tell you the "truth"
भारत एक शौचालय है
Remember Vic Wild who could not find any funding or help in the USA and was ignored by US Olympics body? Well, he's been winning medals since representing Russia. Contrary to some tropes, Ms Gu paid for her own training and coaching.
Do Americans realise most brightest and rich students around the world love to attend top universities in US? Likewise, many also love to work in American companies in US soil or overseas offices. That's the soft power of US.
So, pls don't ask, "If you represent CN, pls don't come back to US or attend US universities."

This is a clear indication of times changing. A new empire is replacing the old
Eileen is right！
Genetics always trump nationality.
I thought “did it for the money” is the most American most capitalistic thing you can do. If that’s the reason then she is as American as one can be.
Funny how people don't keep the same energy when immigrants want to be respected as Americans unless they're winning gold medal
You guys conveniently omitted that Eileen Gu has stated that 90% of the comments in Chinese media platforms were in support of Xu Yi, didn't you?
Zhu Yi has won public support back after her mom posted a fooatge of her excellent performation
I wonder if she will have to pay international rates to go to Stanford
Congrats to Eileen Gu and China for the wonderful gold medal performance. She's definitely a star and made both her countries proud. Please unite and don't divide.
Feel sorry for Zhu Yi. The Chinese should be grateful she chose to represent them.
I have been asking the same. All these years many promising international players from other countries has been representing US. What do they get, more money, instant citizenship??
I believe there is a long list of them, but now since the tide has turned. We see Media covering the topic
Each year many people from other countries come to the US and contribute to the long lasting legacy of the US sports. Why can’t people understand that some Americans benefit the sports of other countries? Why can’t we just be more open minded? It’s their personal decision. If you like sports, then don’t discriminate others, because in sports everyone is equal.
Being a child of immigrants I get their plight but I'm sure they wouldn't give up 🇺🇸 citizenship, their immigrant parents know better
The Chinese government ladies and gentlemen! They need American athletes to win
China has about one fifth of the global population to choose from. Maybe they should just get better coaching.
