She is really really skillful
There’s a guy in the Great Britain team who has already represented the US in last two Winter Olympics.
obviously, her life has been more influenced from being US born, but she has Chinese blood and is representing them well.
and about Zhu Yi, she came far and shouldn't be ashamed for finishing last, not many even get that opportunity.
Eileen Gu is elite in every way, high SAT score, going to attend Stanford, multiple international competitions winner.
Great chance for multiple medals in Beijing 2022.
On the other hand, Beverly Zhu is not really at Olympic level yet, but then there's almost 0 chance that team China can make it to the podium even if she hasn't fail. Maybe the team only want to give her a chance to try out at Olympic level to prepare on a better future!
Congratulations to Eileen Gu for her first Olympic gold and representing China so well!
Congratulations to your 1st gold medal in Beijing 2022, Aileen!!!
It's not what nationality she chose impress me, it's the reason she said. She said she wanted to encourage more Chinese women chasing their dreams. But with golden medals , 158/160 SAT scores on hands , and as a " part time" super model and full time standford student, she is not only encouring women, but men as well.

In Olympic sports, people compete for different countries all the time... It shouldn't be any kind of an issue..
I just hope she will be treated well when she returned to US for her studies. She wants to be a bridge of the two people, but too many people want to wreck that bridge. Be safe Eileen.
It’s the American’s that are calling her a “traitor” on social media, in China they love her and consider her as someone who chose to return home. She’s a media darling in China. I wish her luck
There is is no greater sports medal than a gold in the Olympics. She should take a chance of win one thrue her mother native country.
She has more fans in China than Nathan Chen has in the US, and judging by her image being everywhere in China, her net worth must be high even among all Olympic athletes. With more fans and more money even before the competitions at the Beijing Olympics, she shouldn’t have much pressure going into the competitions.
Hello, it’s sports and only top athletes qualify for the Olympics. Just enjoy and stop politicising.
Her last jump was lifted by the hopes of the 1.4 billion people of the Chinese nation. She flew on the wings of the beating hearts of the people throughout the world who oppose racism and bigotry. This is Jessie Owens in 1936.
Well, she is representing China so let’s not make a big issue of it and just wish her the very best of luck.
Congrats Eileen! Gold!
I wish them the best of luck
My very best wishes to Ailing Gu! Win or not, She is awesome! ️
let's focus on appreciating the talents in these athletes. nationality is just the self-identity of a person, please omit the necessity to include politics in everything.
She makes every overseas born Chinese proud of their heritage, culture and their motherland.
I don't know much about her. If she earned her spot fairly based on her skills. I don't see it as a problem with the country she chose to represent.
She said she wants to bring both countries together. Then more power to her!
Nowadays, people are getting more sentimental to what they don't like. There is no problems with having multinationalities as it only shows your identity and it is a basic freedoms. It doesn't go against your protraitism. Those who think it will are exacerbating the issues.
i've seen so many China born athletes compete for western countries. Finally I can see a US-born athelte compete for China.
She’s obviously a very talented person!
There are actually a few other American that are representing other countries. Just because Eileen is representing China and a medal hopeful, the US media are making a big fuss out of it!!
Some NBC broadcast commentators are so negative against China, it is such a disrespect to all the Athletes' hard work by bringing politic into Olympic!!
Pretty sure that many China born players are part of the US national Ping Pong team but nobody seems to be annoyed about that ...
Some people just do, and inspire.
I wish all Olympic athletes the very best, but am genuinely curious if either American-born athlete (featured in this video) who now represent China would have been able to compete had they remained on the US team. If you're a dedicated and talented athlete but can't earn a spot on the US Olympic team, why not compete under another flag if possible? #LifeIsShort
congratulations gold medal!

Loving all the sheeps crying over her and calling her traitor, I feed on your tears
That ice skater from the US that switched sides and decided to compete for China was absolutely destroyed on Chinese social media, and was called a horrible failure that never should have taken the spot of a real Chinese athlete. If Gu fails they might destroy her too
Win is extra fun! IMPORTANT is be proud of those who are Olympian representing your country. Win or Lose not important . The identity love and support for that NATION is priceless. CHINA want Taiwan to come back home. Show the love and support not like those who are from mainland china hate Zhu Yi for not winning.
Congrats to her don't see what the issue is plenty of people have duel nationality upto her who she represents.
Winter sports is not as popular and well trained in China despite how they excel in Summer sports, which is why Eileen's decision is so inspiring, simply because she understands her one decision can affect the future generation of kids and young girls growing up in China to play more winter sports (especially since Chinese parents discourage kids to play dangerous sports). Politics aside, its inspiring to see the younger generations be wise and inspirational.
Many online should be happy and proud that Zhu Yi is UNITY and United. You can't win Taiwain HEART if the true natural of the Main Chinese are like this. UNHAPPY? What a Shame. Want Tawian back then embrace all who is like Zhu Yi .

She is half Chinese , so nothing unique thing
Just see the team of USA , how many half American or different ethnic group reprsent it including Chinese American too
Despite the vast resources the Chinese Authorities have probably poured into nurturing domestic winter sport talent, Homegrown Chinese Athletes in Winter Sports are simply not competitive enough currently to even come to being on the medal podium for the Winter Olympics. Therefore, why not let those with Chinese descent from overseas represent China as they have more talent than China can foster now.
The most wonderful athlete ever...Gu China!
Shame Zhu Yi didn't get the same love and attention as Aileen Gu prior to the winter Olympics, maybe that is why Zhu Yi performed really badly in the Winter Olympics, cause she was under immense pressure and scrutiny from Chinese Netizens prior to her event.
Better off having a Chinese citizen, the young talent coming out of China is impressive. Hard work pays off
she'll be biggest sports star these few years and richest for sure in china, maybe richest female athletes globally...so don't be jealous
More people don't give themselves enough credit that natural beauty will usually win over anything artificial.
The material world sometimes distorts how nature is perfectly imperfect.
Because of the Asian hate happening, she decides to switch sides
